Health questions:How do i know if i am getting the condition were men get boobs?

im a teenager and think i have a slight hormone problem because i am going through puberty much later than everyone else... and aparently the disease where men get 'defined boobs' occurs from hormone dificency. am i a candidate?

Those manboobs are the effect of oestogen sensitivity. It's not so much a deficiency as a reaction to the raging hormones that bring on growth. To grow during puberty the male body releases testosterone in large quantities.... and your body tries to bring this into Balance by also producing more oestrogen. If you are sensitive to oestrogen, you can develop man boobs even though you are not a fat person. Usually this Balances out and the fade away by the time puberty is over.

If you are concerned, then do a little exercise. Rowing machine is very good for an all over body workout.. swimming, jogging, cycling... these are all good to help tone and develop a little muscle mass when the growth cycle kicks in. Make sure you eat healthy meals to give yourself the best chance to meet your potential.

Gynecomastia is the medical term for it. Their is a whole slew of causes for it. Personally, I went to my regular doctor first and was referred to an endocrinologist for hormone level tests. The most probable cause they found for me was steroid treatments for Asthma that id been given as a child. Sometimes it goes away and sometimes it requires surgery. I personally waited for a couple years and tried fifing weights but it didnt change the appearance so I opted for surgery. Its more common than you may believe. I talked to a bunch of surgeons and they see a handful of cases a month. Nothing to be ashamed of.
