You shouldnt treat it unless you know for a fact that it is a Yeast Infection. If your doctor has said that it is that, and not something else, then Monistat which you can buy at a pharmacy without a prescription.

Yeast is a fungus scientifically referred to as Candida. The specific type of fungus most commonly responsible for vaginitis is Candida albicans. Yeast is commonly present on normal human Skin and in areas of moisture, such as the mouth and vagina. In fact, up to 20% of women normally carry yeast in the vaginal area.
Vaginal yeast infection (yeast vaginitis) and vulvitis may be treated with antifungal medications that are applied topically in and around the vagina or with antifungal medications taken by mouth. Sometimes, mixed infections with more than one microbe can require combinations of treatments. Topically applied antifungal creams include butoconazole (Femstat 3), clotrimazole (Lotrimin), miconazole (Monistat), and terconazole (Terazol 3).

Depending on the severity of the infection there are several things you can get over the counter that will help you clear one up without a trip to the Dr's office. Cranberry juice is a tried and true method that works for most people and works relatively quickly from just drinking three or four glasses a day. AZO is another over the counter pill that uses cranberry extracts to help fight the infection with the same effectiveness as the real thing just without the taste. Plenty of water, drinking to much soda only aids in feeding the yeast. Cutting down your soda intake will help reduce the infection as well as help prevent future outbreaks. Also you may want to avoid Subway, apparently according to my Girlfriends Dr the amount of yeast they use in there bread is ungodly high, so cutting them out defiantly helps reduce your risks. Good Luck.

There are many ways to treat a vaginal yeast infection...
There are the OTC (Over the counter) formulas that do work immediately and can provide relief. What you do need is bifidus acidophilus - friendly "good" bacteria in your intestinal tract and start taking unsweetened yogurt and a bifidus culture daily for 2 or more weeks.
If you are dealing with a more pervasive systemic yeast infection, you should get the candida protocol I found very helpful at sgsresearch.com. and go to candida protocol. I am not affiliated with this, so I am not seeking profit, but just to let you know it is a very good way to cleanse the body of candida which is very hard to get rid of. I think if you do not choose to do the whole regimen, the best products that have cleared me of most of my candida include: colozone made by some other company which creates oxygen in lower intestine and thus kills candida and bacteria, too. Then, the next product is MSM -- go to a Food_3/' title='tag:health Food'>health Food store and buy that -- it will give you energy without any side affects or nervousness. MSM is like sulphur but not smelly and it gives body something it needs to rebuild lining of intestines, nails, hair, etc. Other things that help include Paramune + by sgs research which is special oils (like Clove) that rid body of bad stuff. It's expensive ($50) but great! The protocol also suggests a gall bladder liver flush. That's a good thing to do every year or so, too, especially if you eat lots of fatty stuff or meat. Get off of white flour and all sugars-- or sugary Foods. Stop feeding the candida / yeast. Keep your energy up. Even with all this, you need to start taking bifidus acidophilus after killing the candida. God bless you. Hope this helps.
P. S. Now regarding the rest of your life::Trust in Jesus, God's Son who paid for all our sins and freely gives all who believe and trust in Him eternal ABUNDANT life!

Actually, it's not difficult at all to treat at home,it's a fungal infection, so, use a fungal infection cream(sorry, I can't give names or promote a product) to put it in check. You can get it over the counter, the Pharmacist will be glad to help you,and it's better than an expensive trip to the ER. Make an appointment to see your doctor, first, to get it diagnosed, Your gynedoc can prescribe a medication, too, that is an antifungal agent, a pill, no mess, no drippin', which is really better. You better be sure that it's a yeast infection, though, before you go self-medicating, OK? And make sure that you get the topical stuff for yeast that's SPECIFIC to the vagina, PLEEEZE!!!(We don't wanna put "our best girlfriend" in any more distress than she's already in, right?!)
